Galaxy A7 Ultra Wide coming to a town near you

GET YOUR hands on the latest Samsung smartphone featuring triple cameras with three times the fun at the Galaxy A7 Ultra Wide Roadshow coming to a location near you this weekend.

The roadshow, which starts today till Sunday, is taking place at eight locations across the country.

For those in the Klang Valley, head to Sunway Pyramid in Bandar Sunway this weekend.

THE IRONMAN challenge returns on Nov 17 this year to Langkawi with two races – Ironman Malaysia and Ironman 70.3 Langkawi. Aiming to be at the front of the pack in the two races is Malaysian firefighte­r Mohd Amran Abdul Ghani, who hopes to qualify for the Ironman World Championsh­ip next year.

The 38-year-old is an active athlete for the Selangor Firefighte­r Department. He has been attached to the state Fire and Rescue Department at Bukit Jelutong since 2001.

Amran ( above and right) has won the best sportsman title six times in the Sukbom (Sukan Bomba) and even represente­d Malaysia for The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) in 2007.

Since taking up a full Ironman race (Ironman Malaysia) in 2014, Amran has been named best Malaysian athlete the same year and again in 2015 at the Ironman 70.3 Putrajaya, and best Malaysian athlete at the 2014 and 2016 Ironman Malaysia.

Ironman is an internatio­nally recognised triathlon and endurance race that consists of 3.8km of swimming, 180km of cycling and 42km of running.

In his maiden attempt in 2014, Amran managed to complete the race in 10 hours and 15 minutes, and he accomplish­ed that while still working full time and only training part-time.

Explaining what made him take part in Ironman races, he said: “I was quite a late starter. It was because I wanted to ensure that I was fully prepared for the triathlon and to achieve the best results. Once I have trained well and was satisfied with my result in triathlons, I started participat­ing in Ironman.

Amran said in school, he was mostly active in group sport, particular­ly in football and hockey, playing up to district level. But Ironman is a whole different level.

For him, participat­ing in this endurance race means the need to achieve maximum fitness.

“It is important to be discipline­d at all times and give your fullest in every training session,” he said.

“As we all know, Ironman challenges the participan­ts in three discipline­s: swimming, biking and running. For each discipline, I need maximum time to train myself to complete it in minimum time.”

He added that as a trained Mirror Mirror Me Contest.

This weekend, the roadshow will also be at Dataran Pahlawan in Malacca, Ipoh Parade in Ipoh, Kuantan Parade in Kuantan, Prangin Mall in Penang, Vivacity Mall in Kucing, Aeon Tebrau City in Johor Baru, and Imago Mall in Kota Kinabalu.

The Galaxy A7 ( right) is the latest addition to Samsung’s midrange Galaxy A series family. It features a triple camera system that has an 8MP sensor with a 120° Ultra Wide Lens, a 24MP main camera, and a 5MP camera that functions as a depth sensor.

It comes with 128GB of expandable storage, 4GB of memory, a 6in FHD+ Super Amoled display, a 24MP selfie camera, and runs on an Octa-core 2.2 GHz processor.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 comes in a choice of black, blue, and gold colours at the price of RM1,299. firefighte­r and rescuer, he is also required to maintain a high level of fitness.

He also keeps a strict eye on what he eats, looking into every detail of his food intake according to a fixed nutritiona­l table and ensuring that he consumes enough calories to fuel his training.

This is the fourth year Amran is participat­ing in Ironman races. He also competes in extreme sport, multi-sport, long distance running, highway cycling and a few other championsh­ips to ensure that he is ready mentally and physically all the time.

Aside from the satisfacti­on he gets from competing, Amran said such events also allow him to meet and befriend people of different background­s from all around the world.
