Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds beat Ipswich 2-0 thanks to goals from Kemar Roofe and Liam Cooper as they went above Middlesbrough and Sheffield United on goal difference at the summit.

It was just Leeds’ second win in six outings as they moved up from fifth ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Nottingham Forest.

Paul Hurst’s Ipswich remain bottom and are now four points from safety having won just once this season.

Derby demolished West Brom 4-1 at The Hawthorns as Frank Lampard’s side motored into fifth.

Jack Marriott opened the scoring before Tom Lawrence fired in off the post to put Derby 2-0 up after 15 minutes.

Harry Wilson added a third five minutes after the break as Albion slipped to back-to-back defeats for the first time this season.

Local boy Scott Malone drilled in with 20 minutes left before Rodriguez’s late consolation.

Lewis Grabban’s brace and Joe Lolley’s early strike saw Nottingham Forest up to seventh as they beat Bolton 3-0 while Preston climbed out of the relegation zone with a 4-3 victory over Brentford. – The Independent Sport, BT

weeks.” After only winning by a margin for two or more goals just twice this season, Klopp was delighted to see his side execute his game plan and hit their inferior opponents hard. “The plan was to start direct, we didn’t know how they would defend,” he said. “We wanted to be lively, but perhaps it (the indifferent start) went on too long. “When the game calmed down we played football and created chances – it was a really good game and I enjoyed it a lot. “It was good (the front three scoring), but it was good to see Adam (Lallana) coming on, the counter-attacking, the passes and Daniel (Sturridge) playing. It was a good football game and a deserved win.” Fabinho, who has been a peripheral figure for his performance. “Fabinho won a lot of balls and made some great passes – very happy for him,” he said. “All the players worked hard tonight. I’m very happy we kept a clean sheet and scored some goals.” – The Independent
