MEX­ICO CITY: Pres­i­dent-elect An­dres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s fu­ture in­te­rior min­is­ter put forth a bill on Tues­day to le­galise mar­i­juana in Mex­ico, which is plagued by vi­o­lence fu­elled by drug car­tels. Olga Sanchez Cordero in­tro­duced the bill to pro­pose a re­spon­si­ble reg­u­la­tion model adapted to Mex­ico’s cir­cum­stances. He has been given carte blanche to over­haul drug pol­icy un­der Obrador, a left­ist who takes of­fice on Dec 1. – AFP
