Former director charged with graft

SHAH ALAM: A former director of a constructi­on company was charged in the sessions court yesterday with four counts of bribery, involving RM270,000 in gratificat­ion for giving contract work at klia2 to a company six years ago.

Affendy Bahrom (pix), 44, from Bukit Jelutong pleaded not guilty to all charges before judge Rozilah Salleh.

The former director of Maxwell Accent JV Sdn Bhd was charged with accepting gratificat­ion for himself, in the form of four cheques; two for RM40,000, one for RM80,000 and one for RM110,000 from Mohd Asri Omar, who is a director of Syarikat Malim Resources, between May 18, 2012 and Oct 10, 2012. The charges against him were framed under Section 16(a)(A) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.

Rozilah allowed Affendy bail of RM40,000 in one surety for all charges. He was also ordered to surrender his passport. The court fixed Dec 6 for mention. – Bernama
