For­mer di­rec­tor charged with graft

SHAH ALAM: A for­mer di­rec­tor of a con­struc­tion com­pany was charged in the ses­sions court yes­ter­day with four counts of bribery, in­volv­ing RM270,000 in grat­i­fi­ca­tion for giv­ing con­tract work at klia2 to a com­pany six years ago.

Af­fendy Bahrom (pix), 44, from Bukit Je­lu­tong pleaded not guilty to all charges be­fore judge Rozi­lah Salleh.

The for­mer di­rec­tor of Maxwell Ac­cent JV Sdn Bhd was charged with ac­cept­ing grat­i­fi­ca­tion for him­self, in the form of four cheques; two for RM40,000, one for RM80,000 and one for RM110,000 from Mohd Asri Omar, who is a di­rec­tor of Syarikat Malim Re­sources, be­tween May 18, 2012 and Oct 10, 2012. The charges against him were framed un­der Sec­tion 16(a)(A) of the Malaysian Anti-Cor­rup­tion Com­mis­sion (MACC) Act 2009.

Rozi­lah al­lowed Af­fendy bail of RM40,000 in one surety for all charges. He was also or­dered to sur­ren­der his pass­port. The court fixed Dec 6 for men­tion. – Bernama
