PKR elections must be concluded despite setbacks: Anwar

- BY TIMOTHY ACHARIAM

KUALA LUMPUR: The PKR elections must be concluded despite setbacks and internal squabbling, said incoming party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“The process must continue, we cannot delay it any longer,” he said at the Parliament lobby yesterday, referring to divisions which have had election results suspended due to controversies.

On the Julau division elections in Sarawak, he said the party central election committee has accepted the results, adding that those who were not satisfied with the outcome could raise their objections.

“Winning and losing is a norm (in the) democratic process. There were many problems and complaints that we have to look into, all of which has been brought to the police and MACC. So, let them do their jobs.”

The Julau division election results are also being investigated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that scrutiny of the votes recorded in Julau and a technical analysis showed that all votes were accounted for.

PKR Election Committee chairman Datuk Rashid Din said investigations showed that all data were safe and had been successfully uploaded to the cloud server.

He said the committee held a meeting with the Operating, System and IT units and also took into account technical reports from the developer of the e-voting system. STORY ON
