> Malaysian MBA graduates get ready to join The Watt Club

-

HERIOT-WATT UNIVERSITY boasts the oldest alumni association in the UK, The Watt Club, established in 1854 — and of which, Malaysian MBA graduates are part of.

MBA programmes are renowned for their wealth of opportunities for networking.

Being part of a class of business people from around the world and working together is bound to create strong connections that will hold long after graduation.

But, if your school has strong relationships with its alumni, your network can extend across disciplines and geographical locations to people you’ve never even met.

Alumni who studied at the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University campus in Putrajaya and those who completed their MBA via distance learning, will receive free, automatic and lifelong membership of the Watt Club, after graduating on Dec 2.

Since its establishment, The Watt Club has grown from a small dinner party in 1855 to a club of 123,000 alumni and 23,000 are Edinburgh Business School graduates.

“Edinburgh Business School graduates are a very international group,” says Adam Gillies, the alumni engagement officer who coordinates the work of the Club.

“The people that I work with day to day are based across 160 countries around the world, and we have branches of The Watt Club in several key regions. Some examples would be London and South Africa, and the wider university has Watt Club branches in Dubai and Malaysia where we have our two international campuses.”

Through these branches, the alumni engagement office at Edinburgh Business School puts together a yearly roster of events that occur all around the world.

Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University are inviting those who are interested in business education to an MBA* preview event and a talk by the Executive Dean of the School, Prof Heather McGregor, entitled “The Flying Manager – from cockpit to commerce – what business can learn from aviation”.

The event will take place at Heriot-Watt University campus in Putrajaya on Dec 1 at 10am – 12pm.
