SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government will not take over the land occupied by the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple.
In denying claims that the government will acquire the land from the the developer, One City Development, and allow the temple to remain at the location, Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari said such claims were untrue and misleading.
“The state government has ruled out acquiring the land as it will incur huge financial implications where taxpayers money is concerned and set a bad precedent.”

speculation until the state’s formal announcement,” he told a press conference that was also attended by Cabinet ministers P. Waytha Moorthy, M. Kulasegaran and Xavier Jayakumar at the Selangor state legislative assembly building yesterday.
However, Amirudin gave an assurance that the temple will not be demolished or relocated, at least until January.
“Until a solution is found, there will be no demolition or action taken against the temple,” he said, adding that an injunction on the matter will be heard in court on Jan 11.
