KUALA LUMPUR: Civil ser­vants should be re­spected and not be harmed while per­form­ing their du­ties, said Datuk Seri Dr Wan Az­izah Wan Is­mail. The deputy prime min­is­ter said it was the re­spon­si­bil­ity of ev­ery­one to pro­tect pub­lic ser­vants in­clud­ing mem­bers of the se­cu­rity forces. “We have to pro­tect who­ever is work­ing for the pub­lic, in­clud­ing fire­men,” she said af­ter open­ing the 2018 Na­tional Plan­ning Congress or­gan­ised by the Malaysian in­sti­tute of Plan­ners yes­ter­day. She was com­ment­ing on the case of Muham­mad Adib Mohd Kas­sim, 24, who was in­jured af­ter he was re­port­edly beaten dur­ing the ri­ot­ing at the Sri Maha Mari­amman tem­ple. – Ber­nama
