Cardiff resurgence continues

-

CARDIFF CITY maintained their unbeaten run under new boss Neil Harris thanks to Lee Tomlin’s dramatic late winner in a 3-2 win against

Barnsley in Wales yesterday .

Tomlin created Danny Ward’s equaliser before lashing home the winner in stoppage time.

Barnsley had given an excellent account of themselves and twice led through Conor Chaplin’s opener and a Lee Peltier own goal.

However, Bambo

Diaby’s deflected own goal, Ward’s fine finish and Tomlin’s dramatic winner earned Cardiff victory.

The win means Cardiff rise to eighth, while

Barnsley remain bottom of the Championship.

“First and foremost let me be very honest, that wasn’t a great performance from us,” Cardiff City manager Neil Harris told

Tomlin’s winner came in the fourth minute of injury time, as he caught teammate Aden Flint’s header perfectly inside the visitors’ area on the volley.

“You never give up, no matter what the score is,” Tomlin said.

“The ball fell at my feet and I was lucky to slot it away and get the win for the side.

“There is a great togetherness with the squad, and it’s still early days with the Gaffer.

‘We know when we’re playing sloppily and we pull each other out of it to work together, which is what I think we’ve done this afternoon.”

Looking towards City’s next few matches, the forward’s eagerness to continue the season is tangible. “We’re looking forward to our next match,” he concluded. “If you look at the way that we’re playing and the fight that we have in us as a squad, you can see that we’re not giving up.

“We’re buzzing with the result and can’t wait to get out there again.” – Cardiff City FC
