No evidence civil servants sabotaging govt
KOTA KINABALU: There is no evidence of a deep state or dissatisfaction among civil servants that has led to allegations of civil servants sabotaging the government administration.
Director-General of Public Services Datuk Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman said this may be an excuse for many communication problems that occur during public relations exercises, which could appear as a form of sabotage, but said it was all talk as to this day, there is no evidence.
Instead, he blamed employee inefficiency and lack of commitment.
“We need to be careful of the terms used and not make sweeping statements that involve all civil servants,” said Mohd Khairul when delivering his message to Sabah civil servants here yesterday.
He said as civil servants, they know that rules need to be obeyed in the civil service and that action would be taken against those who go against existing rules.
On allegations through social media, which is “borderless”, he said these would leave a negative impact on the public service if not handled properly. “This should be taken seriously as it involves the dissemination of unconfirmed information, especially when the issue is being spread via WhatsApp, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Instagram and so on,” said Mohd Khairul.
“I wish to remind everyond to be mindful of our actions, especially when making any statement or sharing content on social media.
“It is in accordance with our oath and affirmation under the Official Secrets Act 1972 and the Public Service Promise to keep the government’s official secrets.”
