Ushering in greater abundance at Sunway Velocity Mall
WELCOMING a year filled with growth and success in this Year of the Rat, Sunway Velocity Mall’s ‘Bank of Abundance’ will see the shopping mall being immersed in the bountiful atmosphere inspired by Sekinchan, the main producer of rice in Malaysia.
Until Feb 9, the mall’s main atrium on the ground floor will be home to a quaint little village surrounded by scenic paddy fields, as traditional tall, wooden houses stand as a reminder of the past.
Booths around the main atrium have been set up to allow patrons to shop in preparation for the upcoming Lunar New Year.
The booths will feature traditional Chinese New Year clothing for kids and adults, cookies, hampers, Chinese teas, as well as one offering shoppers a blast from the past with popular snacks and toys from the 1970s to 1990s. There is also a flower market and trinket cart on the ground floor.
Various performances and activities have been lined up for the festive season, such as the God of Prosperity walkabout, lion dances,
Chinese cultural fan performances, Chinese diabolo performances, and Yamaha instrumental performances.
Every weekend and public holiday will also feature different activities for children, with tea making workshops, Angpao Fish workshops, Chinese mask making workshops, and various other culturally inclusive hands-on activities. The Commune at Level 5 of the mall will also host specialty workshops for various other interests.
Shoppers at Sunway Velocity can also redeem exclusive merchandise from now to Jan 27.
Those who spend RM300 in a maximum of two receipts (RM200 for HSBC Credit cardholders) will be able to redeem two sets of All Season Prosperity Angpow Packets.
Shoppers who spend RM800 in a maximum of four receipts (RM700 for HSBC Credit cardholders) are entitled to redeem an exclusive Abundance Rice Bowl Set.
Not only that, shoppers who spend RM3,800 in a maximum of six receipts (RM3,700 for HSBC Credit cardholders) will be entitled to a 28in Cosas United Luggage Bag!
There is also one final treat for shoppers after they have made their redemptions.
Standing within the main atrium of the mall is the grand ‘Wishing Tree’ with its cascading branches and leaves. Shoppers will receive a Wishing Ribbon every time they make a redemption. Shoppers can then make their wish and throw the ribbon upon the tree.
