Head over heels

Homegrown Feith London recently opened its first multilabel footwear boutique in Fahrenheit88, Kuala Lumpur

POWERHOUSE mother-daughter fashion duo Soo Shea Pin and Teh Wenfei sought a way to combine their enterprising spirit with their love for pretty heels. This resulted in Feith London, a multi-label footwear boutique inspired by the intrinsic bonds between family. The independent label champions the idea of heritage, allowing it to stand out in the mainstream market.

Alongside Feith’s stunning heels, other niche European labels such as Jonak, La Maison de l’Espadrille and S.Novio are also given a modern retail space to shine.

Soo describes Feith as “elegant and comfortable, attractive yet not over the top.”

She shares: “Why [the name] Feith you ask? I want to rediscover faith in life. Experiencing one failure doesn’t mean that is [the end], it could probably be a turning point for the better.

“Feith’s collections are crafted by a fourthgeneration shoemaking family in Spain, they have immense experience in mastering traditions and techniques, and new technology and innovation has helped their craft to be even more sophisticated.

“Parisian brand Jonak is founded by a Jewish family [that has managed to] preserve its legacy. It is so understated yet worthy of global recognition. Over the last 10 years, it has grown to become the number one performer in Gallerie Lafayette.

“S.Novio is from London but its shoes are handcrafted in Italy, while La Maison de l’Espadrille’s casual footwear label from France is incredibly refined and comfortable; we were lucky to have met the owners during the MICAM footwear trade show in Milan.”

Here are examples of the best of Feith, as well as from the other Feith-vourite brands which also hit the right notes.

Feith

The Spanish artisans who handcrafted Feith’s classy and chic footwear for women combined four generations of shoemaking know-how with a modern approach to develop contemporary designs fit for the modern women.

The brand owners Soo and Teh painstakingly designed the shoes: block heels, kitten heels and sandals with different embellishments, including pearls and decorative crystals, on top of leather or suede.

Jonak

The brand was established by the Nakam family during the 1960s in the Parisian quarter of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The family legacy has been passed down over three generations.

Nothing is left to chance at Jonak, everything is meticulously crafted by hand, from the selection of materials down to the finishing touches. Expect understated shoes with a sense of nonchalant elegance, contemporary and classic designs that truly stand the test of time.

La Maison de l’Espadrille

Espadrilles are a form of casual, flat sneakers, hand-sewn and assembled with materials such as cotton for the upper, jute for the sole and natural rubber for the outer sole.

La Maison de l’Espadrille which has been around since 1960, is a family business founded in southwest France, showing great respect for craftmanship while preserving ageold traditions.

S.Novio

Designed in London and handcrafted in Italy, S.Novio combines English design sensibility with the impeccable skills and craftsmanship of Italian shoemakers in Venice.

Renowned for its artisanal excellence in stretch leather boots, the designs are both classic and innovative at the same time.

S.Novio delivers style with comfort to discerning women who enjoy the finest footwear of the utmost quality and timeless design.
