Tun M, Siti Hasmah celebrate 64th wedding anniversary
PETALING JAYA: Love is and has been in the air, at least for former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, who celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary yesterday.
The lovebirds are creating a sensation on various social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.
“I am shy to show public affection. But we have been married for 64 years and I think it is worth celebrating our tolerance for each other among other feelings,“said Mahathir on social media.
Their sweet interaction and constant cooing at each other have earned them much admiration as netizens congratulated Mahathir and Siti Hasmah.
“Congratulations! Happy 64th Wedding Anniversary to both of you. May God bless, protect and guide and keep both of you in good health always. What God has put together, let no man sunder,” said Facebook user Eunice Philomena Beins.
“Congratulations Tun and Happy Anniversary. May Allah grant both of you great health, rahmat and a happy life forever. Superb example for all the young couples to journey life as husband and wife, experience all the good and bad moments, yet still be strong together ... love both of you Tun,” said another Facebook user, Zalinah Mohd Yusof.
The couple first met while studying medicine at the King Edward VII College of Medicine in Singapore.
After graduating with an MBBS medical degree, Mahathir worked as a physician in the government service before marrying Siti Hasmah in 1956.
They are blessed with a family of seven children and 15 grandchildren.
