Serena S-Hybrid CBU recall

-

EDARAN Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM), together with Tan Chong Ekspres Auto Servis Centre (TCEAS), yesterday announced a voluntary product recall campaign for Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C26) completely built-up (CBU) variant (pix) to reprogramme its continuously variable transmission (CVT) control unit.

All labour and replacement parts (if any) for this service campaign will be at no cost to owners, and the reprogramming process will take approximately 45 minutes.

After investigation conducted by Nissan Motor Co Ltd, approximately 4,001 units of Serena S-Hybrid (C26) CBU variant from Japan, manufactured from Sept 2012 to Nov 2013, have been identified to be affected in the recall campaign.

The Serena S-Hybrid (C26) CKD variant which was launched in Malaysia on Nov 2014, as well as the current Serena S-Hybrid (C27) CKD variant launched on May 2018 and other current selling Nissan models are not affected by this exercise.

Customers of the affected Serena SHybrid (C26) CBU variant will be notified directly through TCEAS by letter, SMS or WhatsApp and are advised to call the nearest TCEAS outlet for an appointment.

Selected TCEAS outlets have extended operation hours and are open 365 days a year, making it easier for customers to service their vehicles on weekends and public holidays, as well as to alleviate capacity surge during this recall campaign.

As vehicle ownership may have changed over the years, current owners of this model are reminded to call Nissan Customer Care Centre toll-free line at 1800-88-3838, to find out if their Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C26) CBU variant is involved in the recall campaign.

“ETCM and TCEAS would like to reassure our customers’ confidence and peace of mind is of utmost importance to the company and deeply regrets for any inconvenience caused. We would also like to reaffirm that both ETCM and TCEAS are committed to ensure our customers’ safety, service and satisfaction are of the highest level, and are working together to promptly address this concern,” say the companies.
