Sufficient supply of essential items

KUALA LUMPUR: The Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry has issued an assurance that there will be sufficient supply of essential items and other foods marketed under the Aidilfitri 2021 Farmers’ Market programme.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee said in a statement a total of 85 marketing outlets of the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) comprising 59 Farmers’ Markets, 23 Permanent Farmers’ Markets and three MyFarm Outlets were involved in the programme.

He said the government’s decision to grant operating permission to the outlets was to ensure that consumers continue to receive fresh supplies.

He said Fama would also continue to ensure that each of its marketing outlets complied with standard operating procedures set by the Health Ministry and the National Security Council.

Ronald said between January and April, a total of 307 Farmers’ Markets involving 12,843 entrepreneurs operated nationwide and recorded a sales value of RM87.5 million.
