Live streaming of Sarawak National Month, Fly Jalur Gemilang launch

KUCHING: A live streaming of the state-level launch of the National Month and Fly Jalur Gemilang in Sarawak, scheduled at 10am on Aug 16, will be held to enable the ceremony to be witnessed by all.

Chairman of the event’s main committee, Suwadi Guliling, said the event to be held at the Sarawak state assembly building, would be held under strict compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) and with limited attendance.

“We have sought the advice of the Health Ministry, National Security Council and the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee and they have reminded us to ensure strict compliance with the SOP,” he said when contacted by Bernama yesterday.

He said Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg will launch the event which will be broadcast live on the Sarawak Public Communication Unit Facebook page, Sarawak Information Department

Facebook page and the department’s TikTok account.

He added that the event will only consist of the chief minister’s address, screening of a patriotic video and flagging off of the Jalur Gemilang convoy.

The convoy will involve only 10 government departments and agencies, comprising police, state information department, State Secretary’s Office, Sarawak Federal Secretary’s Office, RTM, Pos Malaysia, Telekom Malaysia, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, Bernama and Malaysian National Film Development Corporation.

Suwadi, who is also Sarawak Information Department director, said the department would organise a Selfie Wefie competition through its official Facebook page as well as TikTok Merdeka on the TikTok Khabar dari Sarawak Information Department account in conjunction with the event.
