Vegetarians can get enough proteins, vitamins, minerals, calcium from millets, quinoa, tofu, pulses, vegetables, lentils, nuts and seeds. We need only 20% of protein in our diet daily.
Similarly, omega 3 is plentiful in flaxseed, hemp seeds, chia seeds and walnuts.
We agree that vitamin B12 maybe a problem in a vegan diet and we recommend taking B12 supplements regularly.
The Health Ministry has been advocating the Suku Suku Separoh food plate nutritional guidelines.
It recommends that a diet comprise 50% vegetables and fruits, 25% protein and 25% cereals, nuts and seeds.
Vegans must be aware of some important vitamins and minerals that may be lacking in their diet and seek well informed nutritionists/dieticians on vegan diet requirements. All the non communicable diseases can be prevented or reversed with a vegan diet.
In conclusion, it is advisable to go off meat, fast foods, processed foods and sugary food to have a better health.
