Cumulative Covid recovery cases pass 4m mark
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 10,041 Covid-19 recovery cases that was recorded on Saturday was nearly twice the number of new infections registered at 5,624 cases.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the cumulative recovery cases as of Saturday were 4,310,599.
“Of the daily cases, 1,765 or 31.38% were in category one while 3,835 or 68.19% in category two.
“Category three was detected in 12 cases (0.21%) while category four and five involved six cases each,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Noor Hisham added 89 cases required treatment at intensive care units, while 57 needed respiratory assistance.
A total of 218 Covid 19 patients were warded in hospitals with 111 cases or 50.9% in categories three, four and five, while 107 cases or 49.1% in categories one and two.
He added Malaysia recorded an infectivity rate of 0.77 with Putrajaya having the highest rate at 1.10.
Meanwhile, a total of 667,069 children aged five to 11 or 18.8% in the age group have been fully vaccinated under the National Covid19 Immunisation Programme for Children as of Saturday.
According to the CovidNOW website, 1,477,888 children or 41.6% have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
For teenagers aged 12 to 17, a total of 2,885,265 or 92.7% have completed their vaccination, while 2,985,091 or 95.9% have received at least one jab.
Among the adult population, 16,006,894 or 68% have received the booster dose, 22,963,872 or 97.6% have completed the second dose, and 23,240,846 or 98.8% received at least one dose.
A total of 73,767 doses of vaccine were administered on Saturday, comprising 17,177 first doses, 53,369 second doses and 3,221 booster shots, bringing the total to 70,013,893.
The Health Ministry’s GitHub portal reported that nine Covid-19 deaths were recorded on Saturday, with Kedah registering the highest at six, followed by Johor, Sabah and Sarawak with one each. – Bernama
