Sabah Tube-X programme achieves RM20m in sales
The Tunas Usahawan Belia Bumiputera (Tube-X) programme in Sabah has generated RM20.65 million in sales and created 2,039 job opportunities.
Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the programme is popular among Bumiputera youths in Sabah, serving as an initiative to kickstart entrepreneurial careers and to register businesses.
“As of December 2023, a total of 7,738 participants took part in
Tube-X, with Sabah having the highest number at 1,444,” he said after officiating at the closing ceremony of the programme at Penampang International Technology and Commercial Centre on Sunday.
Ewon, who is also Penampang MP, said Tube-X was implemented by SME Corp Malaysia, an agency under the Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry, to encourage individuals aged between 18 and 30 to venture into business.
He said this year, 214 Bumiputera youth entrepreneurs in Sabah participated in Tube-X, with an allocation of RM3 million, adding that basic entrepreneurship training provided by Tube-X, now in its 10th year, includes a startup grant of up to RM15,000 for every participant upon completion.
SME Corp Malaysia CEO Rizal Nainy said the agency is committed to monitoring the progress of participants who have completed training and started their businesses, adding that the effort is key to guiding them towards greater success.
He said as an agency responsible for developing micro, small and medium enterprises, SME Corp Malaysia is dedicated to nurturing Bumiputera youth entrepreneurs, in line with the equitable and inclusive Madani Economic Framework.
The programme is also executed in the Northern, East Coast, Central and Southern zones. – Bernama
