RJ Pac-Man Series Level III

A homage piece destined to level up your collection

Top Gear (Malaysia) - - Watch List -

Swiss marque RJ recently revealed the third timepiece of its

Pac-Man series. Aptly called Level III, it joined an ever-growing series of watches made in collaboration with Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc and its iconic games.

With the Level III, RJ introduced a new style in tribute to one of the world’s most loved games, crafting it to match the brand’s playful spirit. Unlike its predecessor, the Level III sports a black dial with a polished mirror finish and a polished titanium bezel encircling it.

What truly catches the eye and the game’s playful spirit is the iconic maze, featuring Pac-Man in hot pursuit of Pac-Dots and ghosts. The scene was recreated using 27 handcrafted components separated into three levels. Intricate artwork aside, the RJ Pac-Man Series Level III harnesses an automatic rewinding movement.

Closer inspection reveals the blue aluminium that walls off the maze is sanded on the edges and polished on top. The raised walls are filled with black lacquer to heighten the 3D effect while the game’s characters have been reproduced by carefully affixing pixelated appliques on the dial. Each applique, of several different colours, has been meticulously filled by hand.

As a finishing touch, the brand’s monogram has been given a satin finish before being framed at the 12:00 position. Additionally, both the game and the timepiece have depth thanks to the contrasting finishes of the dial’s components. Articulated lugs secure a blue rubber strap that matches the dial’s blue accents. The 46mm titanium case has a black PVD surfacing. Prominently featured on its back is a medallion of the legendary pixelated yellow video game character intertwined with the stellar pattern that’s seen on the entire watch and strap.

Just 80 pieces of this special issue have been made in homage to the year Pac-Man was first released – 1980.
