To Balance Your HORMONES

Women's Weekly (Malaysia) - - Wellbeing -

Hormones are chemical messengers that help to control different body functions. When our hormones are out of balance, it can lead to painful periods and fertility issues.

The body detoxifies many of our hormones through the liver, where they get passed into the bowel, ready for excretion. If there is insufficient fibre in your diet, those hormones get reabsorbed by the body and cause hormonal excesses.

“Nutrients are used as building blocks for hormones and boost their metabolism,” says naturopath Katherine Maslen, author of Get Well,StayWell. “Juices – and particularly smoothies – can help you get a concentrated dose of these nutrients in an easy-to-absorb medium, help the elimination pathways work more effectively and aid the removal of excess hormones in the body.”
