TAC Theatre has joined forces with Puttinu Cares to raise funds for families with children suffering from cancer by pledging €4 from every ticket sold between last Tuesday, 23 May, and today, 29 May, to the upcoming musical, Rock of Ages.

The show, which will be the biggest musical ever to hit Malta’s shores, will feature a myriad of local stars, including Kurt Calleja, Errol Sammut, Nadia Vella, Taryn Mamo Cefai, Chris Dingli, Colin Fitz, Rachel Fabri Camilleri, Steffan Cheriet Busuttil, Rach Tedesco Triccas and Katherine Brown. The cast will also be performing various numbers during today’s Puttinu Cares’ marathon.

“When Puttinu invited us to be part of their upcoming marathon, we instantly said yes,” explains Wesley Ellul from TAC Theatre, who is also the producer of Rock of Ages. “Both Marc, who is directing it, and myself are fathers, and we believe in helping out organisations like Puttinu Cares, which do so much good for our communities and those in need, particularly the little ones.”

Rock of Ages, which will open at the City Theatre in Valletta on 29 June, is the local adaptation of the five-time Tony Award-winning jukebox musical built around classic rock songs from the 1980s. Penned by Chris D’Arienzo, the musical features hit numbers by Styx, Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister, Poison and Europe, among others.

On top of the stellar cast, Rock of Ages also includes a number of renowned names in the industry working behind the scenes, including Marc Cabourdin and Wesley Ellul as the directors of the musical, Renzo Spiteri as the musical director, Sue Vassallo on choreography and Roger Tirazona as the vocal coach.

The musical will open on 29 and 30 June and will run every Wednesday throughout summer. Tickets can be purchased from www.ticketline.com.mt and €4 will be given to Puttinu Cares for every ticket purchased between Tuesday, 24 and Sunday, 29 May.
