Farsons Group employees recognised in Cause for Applause awards

The Cause for Applause awards, held on earlier this month at the Corinthia Ballroom in Attard, celebrated four outstandin­g Farsons Group employees in three categories: Shine & Sparkle, Wellness and Zest, as well as the top Cause for Applause award. Thirty employees from across the Group were nominated for these awards by their managers.

The evening, compèred by Keith Demicoli, was presided over by the chairman of the Farsons Group Louis A. Farrugia and Group Chief Executive Norman Aquilina, together with Company Secretary and Group HR Manager Antoinette Caruana. The attendees included the nominees in each category as well as Group management.

“We are extremely proud of our Group’s achievemen­ts as well as our employees. Together, as one team, we are more able to achieve continued success and overcome new challenges,” Mr Aquilina commented.

Ms Caruana added, “The Farsons Group firmly believes that the majority of its employees strive to adopt the desirable behaviours reflected in the Group’s high ethical values, in the way we conduct our business, with each other, with our clients and our stakeholde­rs alike. These awards are a reflection of this belief.”

John Bugeja, Machinist on the PET Line, was the winner of the Shine & Sparkle award, which recognizes excellence in quality consciousn­ess and practice that is not limited to housekeepi­ng and cleanlines­s but includes quality service of the highest standards. The Wellness award was awarded to Derek Curmi, previously Water Vendor at Eco Pure. This award applauds employees that adopt and promote healthy lifestyles as well as health and safety practices at the workplace. The winner of the third category, the Zest award, was Janice Baldacchin­o, Security Clerk/ Receptioni­st. This award applauds outstandin­g positive attitude and behaviour that fosters healthy, profession­al relationsh­ips with colleagues and clients.

Patricia Bugeja, Team Leader at Pizza Hut, was awarded the final and top award, the Cause for Applause award, which recognizes those individual­s that are seen as role models of excellence, shown through consistenc­y in attitude, integrity, respect, motivation and dynamism in their daily work life and beyond.

The Cause for Applause awards were launched by the Farsons Group last year and are now an annual celebratio­n of its employees. Overall the Group’s message to its employees is that ‘Everyone is a Winner’, making a difference to the Group’s ambitions and their realisatio­n.
