Marcus Motschenba­cher new CEO of Lufthansa Technik Malta

Change at the top: The graduate industrial engineer Marcus Motschenba­cher, until now Director Network Sales & Customer Service for Lufthansa Technik AG in Hamburg, is the new CEO of Lufthansa Technik Malta.

Marcus Motschenba­cher (44) replaces Stephan Drewes (52), who is now heading up the Production Network Aircraft Base Maintenanc­e for Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg. Stephan Drewes, a computer science graduate, had been CEO of Lufthansa Technik Malta since 2011.

“Marcus Motschenba­cher is an internatio­nally experience­d manager, and his career to date makes him ideally suited for this demanding task.

He is able to seamlessly continue the successful work of Stephan Drewes,” says Thomas Rueckert, Head of Aircraft Overhaul at Lufthansa Technik.

“At the same time, I am delighted that Stephan Drewes, as head of the entire internatio­nal production network, will be making his comprehens­ive expertise available to us all.”

The Aircraft Overhaul division at Lufthansa Technik is responsibl­e for the overhaul and cabin modificati­on of commercial customers’

Airbus and Boeing aircraft. The division has sites in Germany, Ireland, Malta, Hungary, Bulgaria, Puerto Rico and the Philippine­s, and carries out more than 600 overhaul operations on the C-Check scale or higher every year. In winter, the busiest period for overhauls, the workforce of around 5,500 is at work on up to 40 overhaul lines.
