St Lucia remain unbeaten

Kirkop United continued their excellent run with a hard fought 3-2 victory over Dingli Swallows in the first match at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Matthew Cassar put Kirkop ahead after 20 minutes with Luke Galea making it 1-1 on 29 minutes from the penalty spot. Fabian Fonseca made it 2-1 for Kirkop on 45 minutes with Cassar adding another on 68 minutes. Luke Galea further reduced the deficit for Dingli in added time.

St Lucia remained unbeaten with an excellent 4-1 victory over Mdina Knights who have now lost 3 games in a row. The Saints goals came from two braces by Sebastian Perdomo and Marlon Farrugia.

Xghajra Tornados registered their second win of the season when they beat Zurrieq by three goals to one. Noel Tabone opened the secoring on 53 minutes with Nathan Zammit equalising on 56. However a brace by Royter Degiorgio on 59 and 92 minutes secured the points for the Tornados.

St Venera Lightnings rose to the top of the table with a fine 3-0 victory over Msida St Joseph in the second match at the Luxol Stadium. Dylan Mercieca opened the scoring on 34 minutes with Danijel Vasic adding another two to his impressive tally on 35 and 67 minutes.

Kalkara continued their unbeaten run with a thrashing of Ta’ Xbiex by six goals to nil in the second match at the Sirens Stadium. The goals came from a hat trick by Timmy Thomas on 14, 85 and 89 minutes, Ryan Sell on 33 minutes, Jonathan Scerri on 61 minutes and Benji Ayuba on 59 minutes.

Luqa St Andrews also continued their fine run with a 2-0 victory over Mtarfa courtesy of a brace from their returning striker Dennis Sytnik on 8 and 14 minutes, the former from the penalty spot.
