Mosta Shaggy remain unbeaten

-

After beating Wardija in the top clash of the week 8-4, Mosta Shaggfy’s Pub remain the only unbeaten team in the MSV LIFE League.

They have joined Dingli at the top of the standings with a game in hand. Mosta at the moment are the most consistent team playing fluid constructive football.

For Wardija this was their third defeat. They are struggling to show their best and they have problems to form their best selection through injuries etc. Their best player was David Camilleri, who showed some neat touches and gave well placed passes to his teammates.

Mosta again had Ibrahim Tarik playing at his best and being on target on three occasions. He knows the game well and possesses a strong shot He was greatly helped by his other experienced members of the team

Marsa White Stars Barilla are still with a chance to make it with the first six for the second phase. They beat Zurrieq Wolves 9-7.

Zurrieq gave their opponents a strong scare and Marsa made sure with a late goal, after a great comeback by Zurrieq.

Marsa played their best football in the first half leading 6-2, but in the second half Zurrieq were the better side. However, their efforts were not enough. Although they reduced the margin, they failed to get a draw which they deserved. Man of the match was Rupert Mangion of Marsa.

The race for the last place in the first six is between Marsa and Valletta. Marsa still have to play with Tal-Qroqq, Melita and B’Kara, whilst Valletta will play against Rabat and Tal-Qroqq.

Dingli Desana had an easy game against Jival winning 13-3. Although they tried their best Jival could not stop their rivals who had such players as Malcolm Licari who scored five, Jeffrey Gauci with four goals, and Carlo Mamo getting three. Dingli are playing well and can get even better when last season’s top scorer, William Borg, returns from his injury.

In another game between two clubs at the bottom, Melita Celtics got their second win beating TalQroqq 5-1, with Peter Gatt scoring a hat-trick.

Melita did not dominate but they deserved their win. Tal-Qroqq offered strong resistance, but their way to goal was not effective enough to produce a better result.

STANDINGS: 21 Dingli, Mosta, 18 Wardija; 16 B’Kara; 14 Rabat; 13 Marsa, 12 Valletta, 9 Jival; 7 Zabbar, Melita; 3 Zurrieq, Tal-Qroqq
