Msida’s positive run continues

Msida St Joseph continued their positive run with a 5-1 demolition of bottom club Marsaskala at the Charles Abela Stadium. Matthew Borg opened the scoring on 10 minutes with Clint Zammit making it 2-0 after 14 minutes. Nikolai Golubovic reduced the deficit for Marsaskala on 21 minutes but Msida settled the encounter with goals from Owen Anyaso on 34 minutes, Darren Caruana on 55 minutes and Matthew Borg on 71 minutes.

In the match of the weekend, Kalkara put further daylight between them and the other teams at the top when they defeated Luqa St Andrews 1-0. Justin Felice scored the winner on 85 minutes.

Dingli Swallows and Ta’ Xbiex played out a boorish goalless draw at the Luxol Stadium.

Zurrieq registered their fourth consecutive win of the campaign when they beat Mtarfa by two goals to nil. Dylan Darmanin opened the scoring on 3 minutes with Leontiv Konda doubling on 10 minutes.

St Lucia returned to winning ways with an important victory over Xghajra Tornados at the Charles Abela Stadium. Jean Claude Annati scored the first goal on 78 minutes with Shaun Vella adding a second two minutes into stoppage time.

Kirkop United and St Venera lost further ground in the race for promotion when they featured in a drab goalless draw at the Luxol Stadium.
