Tarxien too strong for Fgura

The final score is a clear indication of the difference between the two teams as Tarxien had an easy game against Fgura who were rarely in the game. Tarxien top the standings on 21 points from 9 games while Fgura lie third from bottom on 12 points from 10 games.
Tarxien applied the early pressure. Keith Attard served Kieran Cassar on the right flank but the ball was cleared away following his dangerous cross.
After a Dale Tabone flag kick, the ball was cleared off the line following a shot by Kurt Borg. Borg then released Attard in the area and a defender cleared the ball to a corner which was taken by Tabone but Borg missed the upright with a header from inside the area.
Two actions were then created by by Fgura. Fabrizio Testa dribbled past an opponent outside the area but he drove over the bar and Testa served Matthew Vassallo with a cross in the area but he missed the upright.
In another action by Tarxien, Bradley Barbara headed slightly over the bar after a Tabone flag kick.
In the 35th minute, Tarxien opened the score when Fgura keeper Glenn Camilleri fumbled the ball after a Tabone flag kick and Barbara scored with a header.
Three minutes later, they doubled their lead when Tabone released Borg in the area and he netted with a hard low drive.
A minute before the break they were denied by the woodwork when the ball thumped the bar from a shot by Ryan Agius from inside the area .
Tarxien created the first two actions after the break. Attard served Ryan Agius in the area but he failed to make contact with the ball and Jaid Agius served Tabone with a cross in the area but headed over the bar.
Fgura won a free kick as Vassallo was fouled outside the area and after the free kick by substitute Matthew Falzon Kirby, a shot by Mikael Azzopardi was cleared to a corner.
The score became 3-0 in the 67th minute when Ryan Agius scored from inside the area after dribbling past an opponent and four minutes later they scored a fourth goal as Attard entered the area after dribbling past an opponent and scored with a hard low drive.
Between the 73rd and 79th minutes Fgura scored three goals for a final score line of 7-0. They were scored by Luke Dalli and Kieran Cassar (2).
