Manchester United and Roma win as Tottenham lose again in Europe
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his first hat-trick for Manchester United as the Red Devils brushed side French side SaintEtienne with a 3-0 win as they now are in a comfortable position to qualify to another round.
The striker from Sweden opened the score after a quarter as his low free-kick was deflected by Pajot and beat his own goalkeeper. Ibrahimovic scored his second goal fiteen minutes from time as substitute Rashford made a good run on the left side and crossed in the centre of the area where Ibrahimovic was ready to score in a practically empty net.
Mourinho’s team scored the third goal on the 88th minute as Ibrahimovic was floored down the penalty, and from the penalty spot, the same scored with a perfect shot on his left bottom corner.
But the other English team didn’t win as Tottenham lost 10 away against Belgian side Gent. The winning goal was scored by Jeremy Parbet on the 59th minute as he beat Hugo Lloris with a low shot in his right corner from a central position.
It was a good day for the two Italian teams as they both claimed two away important wins against two important teams.
Fiorentina beat German team Borussia Monchengladbach 1-0 with young Italian star Federico Bernardeschi netting splendid free-kick from distance just before the half time.
Roma defeated Spanish side Villarreal 3-0 to practically qualify. Brazilian left-back Emerson opened the score on the 33rd minute with a brilliant right-foot shot on the right top corner.
Edin Dzeko doubled the score on the 65th minute, receiving a cross from the right, controlling the ball and scoring with a low shot. Dzeko scored also the third goal on the 78th minute as he received a long ball and slotted past his opponent. The Bosnian striker complete his hat-trick as he made the score 4-0 four minutes from time.
In the other games, Lyon claimed a fine win as they defeated Dutch side AZ Alkmaar 4-1 away. Schalke defeated PAOK 3-0 away while Athletic Bilbao claimed a difficult win against APOEL. Celta Vigo lost 1-0 in Spain against Shaktar Donetsk.
