Entertaining football from the top teams

-

The MSV Life League continued with two big games offering entertaining football and good sportsmanship.

Mosta Shaggy Pub and Dingli Desana both played high class football in one of the best games seen this season.

The draw result was a fair, with Mosta remaining unbeaten and Dingli obtaining their first draw from 11 games. Mosta were the better side and merited their 3-1 lead before the break.

In the second half Dingli performed much better with Carlo Mamo having a solid performace, also voted as the man of the match. With Mamo in defence they had Branco Nisevic, excoach and player with several teams., while Tarik was the best for Mosta, being denied several times with Jeffrey Chetcuti covering well at the back.

Another big entertaining game was that in which Wardija beat Birkirkara 10-8.

Both teams played attacking football with Wardija having that extra edge to get three important points.

The team combined well, and had two hard shooters who created havoc each time they got the ball.

Michael Borg Olivier who was the pick of the day, scored no less than five goals and was also denied three times by the post in the first half. B’Kara started well taking a 3-0 lead. But soon Wardija’s machine started functioning well and not only got the goals, but kept up the pressure.

In a balanced second half, Birkirkara did not find a way to stop their opponents to keep getting the important goals and after drawing 8-8, they suffered two late goals.

Marsa White Stars Barilla registered another good win - 8-5 against modest Melita. Marsa had a good performance in the first half, leading 6-3.

In the second half, it seemed as if they ran out of steam, with Melita making a lot of pressure.

Best player was undoubtedly James Galea of Marsa who also scored a hat-trick.

JIVAL showed improvement from their last games, and Rabat had a difficult game. But somehow, they managed to breeze through. The game was played in good sporting spirit throughout. Jival had foreign player John Faber making an excellent debut.

In another game two bottom teams Zurrieq Wolves and Melita Celtics, battled it out in a fair draw 7-7 draw.

This was a balanced game and the pick players were Roderick Carauna of Zurrieq and Timothy Elllis of Melita.
