Pieta H Marsa 2 0

Pieta returned to winning ways after their dismal performance against Lija, beating Marsa in an entertaining end of season match.

Pieta were the better team and deserved their victory, having the better chances in an action packed game.

Pieta were the better team in the first half and had several good moves, but the Pieta strikers were repeatedly caught in an offside position.

However on 22 minutes, Pieta broke the deadlock when Neil Pace Cocks passed towards Gabriel Mensah who lobbed the ball over the advancing Marsa goalkeeper, to slot the ball home in an open goal.

Six minutes later Pieta doubled the score with a magnificent strike from Jurgen Suda who fired in the top corner from a near to impossible position after receiving from Spiteri.

On 35 minutes Marsa were unlucky when a Rodney Refalo freekick was deflected by a Pieta defender with the ball finishing against the crossbar.

Just before the break Pieta missed a sitter through Suda after a great Pieta move.

On the resumption goalkeeper Montfort made a great save off an Essiel scorcher and on 51 minutes Pieta went close when a Dylan Agius shot hit the base of the upright.

On 65 minutes Marsa went close again with a close range effort from Refalo blocked by Montfort.

On 70 minutes Pieta almost scored a third in a fast break with Mensah’s lob cleared off the goal line by Christopher Cutajar.
