Dingli Desana finish in second place

St Patrick win Coca Cola first division league

-

In the match of the week, good football reigned supreme with some outstanding players from both sides.

Ex champions Dingli Desana managed to win and beat the stiff challenge of Wardija to finish their commitments in second place. A draw would had been enough, but they did better. Wardija, who like Mosta and Dingli, were the main protoganists of the league, were let down by some established players who were missing.

Malcolm Licari was the pick of the day, scoring four. Top scorer of theleague, Jeffrey Gauci managed to get two more.

Marsa WS Barilla finished the league on a high, when beating Birkirkara 10-9 in a balanced game.

Marsa, in their first season in the Masters League, had a positive season and are determined to do better next season. B’Kara seemed to be on the road to victory when they went for the break leading 5-3 and then led 7-5 in the second half.

But Marsa came back strongly and after they drew level 8-8 managed to get the important goal for a great win. Man of the match was Kevin Borg who scored four. For B’Kara William Camenzuli also scored four.

In the Coca Cola First Division league, Zabbar St Patrick won the title when they beat JIVAL 14-7.

The score might indicate an easy win for Zabbar, but Jival provided stiff opposition though they failed to take their chances. Zabbar had Gilbert Scerri in great form, scoring no less than eight to finish top scorer of the league.

Tal-Qroqq remained last in the standings after losing their game against Zurrieq Wolves 12-3, while Valletta lost heavily against Melita Celtics 16-6.
