Paola celebration, Żebbuġ feast postponed due to election
The Christ the King Parish Church of Paola said it was postponing activities in relation with the 50th anniversary of the church’s blessing because of the election.
The decision was taken in consultation with the Ecclesiastical Authorities, the commission responsible for the activities said.
The 50th Anniversary of the Dedication of the Christ the King Parish Church was scheduled to take place on 3 June.
The celebrations will now be held on 12 July to coincide with the day marking the 107th anniversary of the foundation of the parish.
The commission said in a statement that the programme of celebrations shall remain unchanged. This includes a Pontifical High Mass by Archbishop Charles J Scicluna, the procession with the Titular Statue to the Corradino Corrective Facility accompanied by the two bands of the locality, the Unveiling of a Commemorative Plaque to mark the event and the inauguration of the Organ Balcony. The Titular Statue will be taken to the Church of St Ubaldesca (the original parish church).
In the meantime, the election has also affected the Feast of St Philip in Żebbuġ. The feast has been postponed by a week, to 11-18 June.
The decision was taken by the Archpriest after consulting with the local council, the band clubs and the Curia.
