Russian embassy silent

This newspaper sent a number of questions to the Russian embassy in Malta late in the morning. No reply had been received by the time of going to print. The Malta Independent also attempted to get a comment over the phone at around 4pm. This newsroom requested to speak with an official, but the man on the line said “out of office, please call tomorrow.”

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko was in Malta earlier this month for bilateral talks and in a press conference on 16 May had appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin for the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory.
