Brian Galea wins Tumas Group Cup

Brian Galea won the Tumas Group Cup at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club.

This was the last Trap Selection Shoot for the European Championsh­ip to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, between 25 and 27 July.

Galea will be representi­ng Malta in the Trap event, together with Frans Pace who classified in second place and Mario Buhagiar who placed third.

The qualificat­ion results of the six finalists of this weekend’s event were Frans Pace 110/125, Brian Galea 109/125, Frank Scorfna 109/125, Mario Buhagiar 106/125, Stephen Vella 102/125 and Nazzareno Attard 100/125. The final results were: 1st Brian Galea 19/25 + 5/5 + 5/5 + 4/5 + 9/10, total score 42/50

2nd Frans Pace 20/25 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 5/5 + 7/10, total score 39/50

3rd Nazzareno Attard 21/25 + 4/5 + 5/5 + 2/5, total score 32/40

4th Mario Buhagiar 20/25 + 4/5 + 2/5, total score 26/35

5th Stephen Vella 18/25 + 5/5, total score 23/30

6th Frank Scorfna 18/25, total score 15/25

The top three shooters in their respective classes concluded their Sunday two qualificat­ion rounds with the following scores: Class A 1st Frans Pace 44/50 2nd Stephen Vella 42/50 3rd Brian Galea 39/50 Class B 1st Frank Scorfna 44/50 (Count Back Rule) 2nd Mario Buhagiar 44/50 3rd Nazzareno Attard 38/50 Class C 1st Carmel Briffa 28/50 2nd Steve Azzopardi 27/50 3rd Romeo Cassar 26/50 The MSSF Trap programme will continue next Sunday at the Bidnija Shooting Ranges with the Luigi Franchi Trophy.
