Night club death: police continue investigations
Police investigations into the death of a 22-year-old man outside a nightclub in San Ġwann continued yesterday morning.
A police officer with a sniffer dog was on the scene at 8.30am, and was seen speaking to four men.
The procedure is standard in this kind of situation, following the launch of a magisterial inquiry.
The police were informed at 4.45am last Sunday that a young man from Rabat had lost consciousness outside the popular club.
Police arrived on the scene together with an ambulance; however, the man was certified dead. It is unclear as to whether he had been taken to Mater Dei Hospital or whether the team had already found him deceased outside of the club.
The young man was later identified as David Caruana Triccas.
Police say that investigations are still ongoing, and that it is still not known, at this stage, whether foul play, natural causes or any other factors could be at play.
An inquiry led by Magistrate Monica Vella has been launched.
Dominic Micallef Jr, the operator of the Aria complex which includes Aria and The Dome, yesterday contacted The Malta Independent following this news report saying that his establishments were not involved in the incident and were not open or operating that night.
