Milan hit six past Shkendija

Milan made sure to avoid any surprises as they practicall­y made sure of qualifying to the group stage of the UEFA Europa League, defeating KF Shkendija 6-0.

Vincenzo Montella’s team dominated the game scoring three goals in each half while also missing a number of occasions.

Andrè Silva broke the deadlock after 13 minutes, scoring with a low shot in his bottom right corner.

Milan doubled their lead on the 25th minute when Zahov failed to hold on a free-kick by Suso, and Riccardo Montolivo was the fastest player to take advantage from the rebound. Three minutes later Silva, grabbed his second personal goal, beating Zahov with a brilliant personal action in the penalty area.

The Rossoneri had a number of chances in the beginning of the second half from Silva, Calhanoglu, Suso and Antonelli.

They scored the fourth goal on the 67th minute as Andrè Silva failed to conclude from a low cross by Conti, the ball finished in the direction of Fabio Borini who scored in a practicall­y empty net.

A minute later, Luca Antonelli managed to list himself amongst the scorers as he scored from the rebound after Zahov saved partially a shot by Suso.

There was still time for Milan to score the sixth goal as it was again Montolivo who scored with a powerful low shot five minutes from time.

In other games, Everton also won their first leg, beating Croatian side Hajduk Split 2-0.

Defender Michael Keane put Everton in front after the half hour mark, and Idrissa Gana Gueye doubled the lead before the end of the first half.

Last season’s finalist Ajax lost at home against Norwegian side Rosenborg, conceding a goal with 13 minutes left.

Athletic Bilbao claimed an important win as they won in Greece 3-2 against Panathinai­kos.

The Greek side went two goals in front, but Bilbao managed to turn the tables with three goals from the 68th to the 74th minute, from Oscar de Marcos and a brace by Aritz Aduriz.

Apollon Limassol win in Cyprus

Apollon Limassol made another step towards qualifying to the group stage of the competitio­n, winning 3-2 against Midtylland from Denmark.

Maltese offensive player Andrè Schembri started again for the team for Cyprus, and was substitute­d on the 81st minute.

Apollon went in front after 15 minutes from Charalampo­s Kyriakou, but Midtylland equalised on the 38th minute with a goal from Alexander Soerloth.

Jander put Apollon Limassol again in front on the 70th minute, but Alexander Soerloth equalised four minutes later.

Ioannis Pittas who took the place of Andrè Schembri, scored the winner in the final minutes.
