Alex Perici Calascione launches electoral programme
Days before the first session of the Nationalist Party leadership election on Saturday, contender Alex Perici Calascione yesterday launched his electoral programme for the party.
Addressing a press conference at the PN club in Pietà, the candidate said that the proposals put forward in the programme had come about after consultation and discussions with council members and paid party members. He said that the programme was based on updating the party politically.
“The proposals aim to update the party while guided by the most fundamental principles laid down in our statute,” he added.
“There have been a lot of changes going on in our society over the last 25 years and we need to make sure to keep up. We also need to address changes within the party structure – from the party’s leader to every official at the PN headquarters.”
The PN leadership hopeful called on the council members to “vote carefully for a candidate you know where you stand with.” He mentioned the need to update date and survey while making the financial stability of the party key to its success.
He said: “The human being must be kept at the centre of all our policies. Our aim has to be one – to improve the quality of life for our citizens. From the benches of the Opposition, we will be willing to applaud the good things and criticise those that are bad.”
