Busuttil’s former aide appointed Delia’s head of office

- Rachel Attard

The private secretary of former PN leader Simon Busuttil has been appointed as head of office for Adrian Delia, The Malta Independent has learnt.

Sources close to the PN told this newsroom that Edward Mizzi, who was formerly aide to Busuttil, has in the past days been chosen by new PN leader to run his office.

During the leadership campaign Mizzi supported Delia’s candidature. He is the son of Euchar Mizzi who occupied various posts with the Nationalists Party and was the PN’s top person in Gozo.

Sources also confirmed with us that outgoing deputy leader for Parliamentary Affairs Mario de Marco has been very supportive of Delia and is helping him with various party issues. De Marco has been giving Delia a proper handover and the two are said to have developed a close relationship. Some PN supporters have also expressed their views that Delia should keep de Marco as one of his advisors.

This newsroom is also informed that, Member of Parliament and outgoing PN administrative council President Karol Aquilina, who did not exactly hit it off with Delia, is now cooperating with Delia. Aquilina is using his legal skills to help the party on various subjects that are being discussed on a national issue.

Last September, Aquilina was in the eye of a political storm when the administrative committee suggested that Delia should withdraw his candidacy after a report was drawn up by the Ethics Committee.
