Throughout the day, Corps’ volunteers will provide a number of fire and rescue demonstrations and Home Fire Safety Awareness sessions, free of charge.
If you are interesting in becoming part of a team that saves lives, spare some of your free time for public duties as well as emergency call-outs, the John Rescue Corps is inviting you to submit your application on join@sjrcmalta.org by the 6 January 2018.
The fire and rescue training programme for new volunteers will commence on the last week of January, and will be held on Saturday afternoons.
Besides the prospect of getting qualified as a firefighter (FFFC), the training also covers other modules such as rope work, compass and map reading, First Aid together with the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), casualty handling, ladder work and radio communication.
Training will be provided by experienced instructors.
Participants who successfully complete this training programme will be awarded the certificate of Rescue Volunteer Class 1. Volunteers may then proceed onto other specialised training courses such as Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), High Angle Rescue and Water Rescue.
Besides rescue work, other volunteers are required in areas of administration, maintenance and logistics, which are all critical roles within this organisation.
