Frank Scorfna wins EAR Trap trophy

Frank Scorfna won the E.A.R. Trap Competition at the Southern Shooting Club, an event that was organised on two qualification rounds of 25 clay targets each.

Veteran Scorfna was joined on the podium by another veteran shooter, George Cassar, who finished in second place overall who on the other hand was followed by Carmel Briffa as he finished in position number three.

This weekend’s final was dominated by shooters from Class B, as the only shooter to come from a different class was Frank Scorfna who competes in class A.

To qualify for the final stages, George Cassar had to go through a three-way shoot-off versus Emmanuel Zammit and Carmel Grech, while Scorfna and Zammit had a shoot-off for Bib numbers 2 and 3. Stephen Aquilina beat Angel Ciappara to take Bib number 4 in the other shoot-off.

The six finalists in the Bib number order according to their qualification scores were;

Carmel Briffa scored 45/50, Frank Scorfna shot 41/50, Rudolph Zammit hit 41/50, Stephen Aquilina managed 40/50, Angel Ciappara totalled 40/50 and George Cassar qualified with 38/50. The finals results were; 1st Frank Scorfna 21/25 + 1/5 + 3/5 + 4/5 + 6/10, total score 35/50

2nd George Cassar 16/25 + 2/5 + 4/5 + 4/5 + 7/10, total score 33/50

3rd Carmel Briffa 16/25 + 2/5 + 3/5 + 2/5, total score 23/40

4th Stephen Aquilina 12/25 + 3/5 + 2/5, total score 17/35

5th Angel Ciappara 11/25 + 2/5, total score 13/30

6th Rudolph Zammit 10/25, total score 10/25

The top shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds with the following scores:

Class A

Class B

1st Carmel Briffa 45/50 2nd Rudolph Zammit 41/50 3rd Angel Ciappara 40/50
