Malta Motorsport Federation hold 4th edition of Motors Inc. Malta Motorsports Awards
The Malta Motorsport Federation held the 4th edition of the Motors Inc. Malta Motorsports Awards at the Grand Ballroom of the Radisson Blu Resort in St Julians.
Among the special guests were Duncan Micallef, the fastest man in Europe, European Champion for the fastest motorsport in the world, that is Top Fuel Dragster Drag Racing, and Sportsman of the year for 2016 and 2017.
Also present were Zrinko Gregurek, President FIA Central European Zone, Lars Petterson, President of the FIA Drag Racing Commission, and Christian Geistdorfer, co-driver for Walter Rohrl, who together have won Rally Championships in 1980 and 1982.
The special guests were invited to Malta following a joint cooperation between the Malta Motorsport Federation, the Malta Drag Racing Association and Duncan Micallef.
Nominees from each and every club affiliated with the Malta Motorsport Federation were rewarded at the ceremony.
These were Kyle Mercieca for Karting Club Malta, Tony Vassallo for Old Motors Club Malta, Brandon Cassar for All Wheel Drive Club Malta, Jesmond Caruana for American Auto Club Malta, Alfred Cutajar for Ford Owners Group Malta, Francis Preca for Malta Classic, Brian Mifsud for Malta Drifting Association, Nicholas Delia for Island Radio Model Control Club, Kusheff Ivaylo for Porsche Club Malta, Keith Camilleri for 360 Motorsport Club Malta, Duncan Micallef for Malta Drag Racing Association, Antoine Cocker for Mud Fury Land Rover Club Malta, and Jonathan Tonna for Island Car Club.
Other awards were given to Chantelle Zammit, Drag Racing driver and currently the fastest woman in Malta, Simon Giordmaina Racing Team for finishing 3rd in the Super Street Bike European Championship, while Aldo Laferla, a member of the Island Car Club, and a veteran racing driver, was included in the Hall of Fame.
Special awards were sent by the FIA to William England, VicePresident of the Malta Motorsport Federation as official of the year and to Duncan Micallef, European Champion Top Fuel dragster.
The event was hosted by Chris Cauchi and streamed live on Facebook. It was organised with the support of Motors Inc, England Insurance, TVM Sport, WJ England, motorsmt, Signature Brands, A&S Events, Radisson Blu Resort St. Julian’s, Logo Grafix, Malta Gaming Authority and Book a Classic.
