Gudja go top Santa Lucia still in the hunt

Marsaxlokk dashed their promotion hopes when they crashed to Birzebbugi­a St Peter’s by three goals to two in the first match at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.

Sam Kind put Birzebbugi­a 2-0 up with goals on 21 and 36 minutes but Ryan Cauchi and Pablo Doffo with goals on 54 and 63 minutes.

The winning goal came from Didier Sohna two minutes from time.

Santa Lucia continued hoping for promotion when they thrashed relegated Gharghur by five goals to one in the second match at the Luxol Stadium. The goals came from: Paolo Dandolo on 4’, Sebastian Perdomo on 41 and 65’, Steve Meilak on 80’ and Manwel Cutajar on 90’. Cain Saliba scored a temporary equaliser for Gharghur on 40’.

In the first match at the Sirens Stadium, Siggiewi beat Luqa St Andrew’s by two goals to one. Ayrton Micallef put Siggiewi ahead after 75 mionutes with Craig Marney equalising for Luqa on 83 minutes.

The winner came from Edward Bugeja a minute from time. Mgarr United also ran up 3-0 winners against Attard in the second match at the same stadium. The goals came from Daniel Cremona on 55 and a penalty on 63 minutes with Jamie Micallef sealing the issue on 69 minutes.

In the first match at the Centenary Stadium on Tuesday evening, Gudja United ran up 5-0 winners against St George’s. Ronnie Celeste scored a hat trick on 36, 52 and 87 minutes with the other goals coming through a brace by Nicholas Zammit on 14 and 69 minutes.

In the second match, Kalkara dashed Fgura United’s promotion hopes when they won 2-1. Abeeb Williams put Fgura ahead after 5 minutes but Kalkara came back with two goals from Beppe Antignolo on 17 minutes and Timmy Thomas on 51 minutes.
