Luxol 68 Depiro 59 (18-13, 23-8, 14-23, 13-15)

Depiro didn’t follow up on their KO final success. They came a cropper against Luxol as the Violets beat Depiro for the first time in three encounters.

The win took Luxol on a par with the same Depiro as they now share third place. The Play Off semi final pairings are still not defined.

Luxol recovered the Caruana Montaldo brothers Liam and Ben as well as Keith Dimech but Juan Navarro was missing. Depiro fielded the same side that won the KO the Saturday before.

Vukassin Jandric set the pace for Luxol with his opening triple with Depiro going ahead with a 7-2 run and a Kurt Xuereb trey.

Luxol had Jandric netted three more triples and Adrian Micallef put in a brace of hoops to counter the Depiro hoops from Nicholas Grech as Luxol held their lead.

In the second session, the Violets made a three hoop spread and they followed up with a good 10-2 run as Jandric kept pouring in his points and another trey.

Depiro replied with free shots but they had fallen behind with Luxol adding on more points till the interval to take a 41-21 advantage.

After the break, Depiro tried to make a comeback starting off with a 10-2 run and Jack Nygaard and Matthew Borg triples. Jandric helped Luxol to maintain their advantage as he also sank another trey.

Nygaard also netted his second triple for Depiro but Jandric was not to be outdone as he nailed a seventh trey for a 55-44 Luxol lead.

In the last quarter, it was Jandric sinking his last trey and Dimech managed two triples of his own but in between Depiro had Xuereb also netting treys as they reduced their deficit but not enough with Luxol still emerging as comfortable victors.
