Naxxar win section honours

Congratulations to Naxxar who won Section honours and they did so with an unbeaten record as they won 10 and drew 4 from 14 games, scoring 40 goals and suffering only 7 in the process.

Pembroke ended their committments third from bottom on 16 points from 14 games.

The game was dominated by Naxxar as the final score clearly indicates as Pembroke were never in the game except when they scored a temporary equaliser.

The rout commenced in the 15th minute as after a flag kick by Galea, Sean Cutajar netted with a low shot from inside the area past Pembroke keeper Alexander Debono.

Two minutes later Pembroke equalised when Xylon Marmara dribbled past an opponent on the right flank and served Cedric Muscat with a cross in the area and the latter scored with a low shot past Naxxar keeper Julian Vella.

In the 19th minute, Naxxar regained their slender lead as Sean Cutajar floated a high ball in the area from a free kick from the right flank and Xuereb netted with a close-range shot to make it 2-1.

The score became 3-1 in the 27th minute as Gianluca Mifsud served Xuereb with a cross in the area from the right flank and he netted with a hard low drive.

Just before the break,Naxxar scored a fourth goal as Cutajar served Agius with a through ball in the area who rolled the ball into the net with a low shot.

Six minutes after the restart the score became 5-1 as substitue Matthew Attard scored with a hard low shot.

The sixth goal was scored in the 47th minute as Xuereb dribbled past an opponent on the right flank and following his cross in the area, substitute Zach Abela scored with a tap-in.

The seventh goal was scored in the 57th minute when substitute Julian Farrugia served substitute Daniel Cachia with a through ball outside the area and he scored with a hard rising shot from 30 metres.

In the second minute of added time Naxxar scored their eight and final goal as Xuereb dribbled past an opponent on the right flank and Farrugia scored with a low shot following his cross in the area.

After the game, Ms Stephanie Rocco, Youth FA Council member, presented the Trophy to Naxxar captain Sean Cutajar to the joy of the numerous supporters.
