Floriana end their commitments on a positive note

Floriana ended their committments with 9 points from 14 games while Lija-Iklin finished in bottom plae on just 1 point from 14 games.

The Greens obtained a good win against Lija-Iklin as they dominated proceedings throughout the game as their opponents created only one action and they did not manage a single shot at goal.

From the very first whistle Floriana started on the offensive. Thomas Debono served Matthias Lufi with a long throw-in from the left flank in the area and LijaIklin keeper Matthias Cuschieri saved his shot.

Later Eman Micallef served Jacob Darmanin with a through ball outside the area but Cuschieri came out of his charge to kick the ball away.

Lija-Iklin created their only action in the 14th minute as a flag kick by Thomas Azzopardi was cleared away, and three minutes later Floriana opened the score when Deacon D’Agostino dribbled past two opponents and after entering the area he scored with a low drive.

After taking the lead Floriana resumed with their pressing.

Lufi was fouled on the left edge of the area and Mikail Mansueto missed the far post from the free kick.

Keith Carabott wasthen fouled on the left flank and again Mansueto missed the far post from the free kick.

After the resumption, Floriana resumed pressing and mounted all the actions and after five minutes they doubled their lead as after a flag kick by Neil Cassar, Thomas A. Debono scored with a header from inside the area.

Micallef later served Cassar with a through ball on the left edge of the area and from his hard drive the ball missed the near post by inches.

The score became 3-0 in the 57th minute.

Mansueto served Lufi with a long throw-in on the right flank who then crossed the ball in the area and Grech first-timed the ball into the roof of the net.

The Greens could have aqdded another goal before the end when Mansueto dribbled past an opponent on the right flank and crossed the ball in the area, but Lufi drove over the bar from a very ideal position.
