Catching them young – Malta Mountain Bike Association hosts Kids Bike Ride

-

The Malta Mountain Bike Assocation recently held a Kids Bike Ride in its ongoing attempts to attract new and young blood to the sport.

The bike ride kicked off in Bidnija and was open to children and youths aged between 10 and 16 years of age. The non-technical, 13 kilometre route included some easy off road cycling – an experience that most of those present had yet to experience.

The Association roped in the assistance of some of the most seasoned and experienced cyclists to join in and assist the young riders, who despite the hot and humid weather thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

“We were very satisfied with the participation and enthusiasm shown by these young riders, who were definitely not discouraged by the heat on the day. This event was a great way to introduce children to mountain biking in a safe, fun, welcoming environment” explained Pierre Zammit Endrich, President Malta Mountain Bike Association. “It was also encouraging to see some of our top and seasoned riders join in this initiative, hopefully this will contribute towards the development of our sport which has been enjoying a steady growth in the past few years. ”

At the end of the ride, all those taking part were given refreshments and a goody bag compliments of Pash – The Healthy Option, Enervit Malta, Jardinland and AF Sign Studio.

The Association is looking at organising other initiatives and more information will be available on the Association’s website - http://www.maltamountainbike.org.mt/ or on its Facebook page.
