FES to issue percentage of unpaid wages to Skolasajf part-timers

-

The Foundation for Educational Services (FES) said it will be issuing a “percentage of the wage” for Skolasajf part-timers who have not yet been paid for their work.

The two unions representing teachers had received many complaints from members who said that the FES intended to issue salaries for work carried out during the summer in September and October.

The initial payment for those commencing Skolasajf on the 12 July was projected for 7 September.

FES had later said it had had a number of meetings with a number of teachers, who had understood the issues.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Foundation said it would be issuing a percentage of the salary for part-timers who have not received a wage until now. It did not say what the percentage is.

FES also said it will be introducing a new operation system so that the part-timers’ salaries are regularised as well for next year.

This year over 12,100 children have applied - an increase of over 700 children from the previous year, in around 59 centres in both Malta and Gozo.
