Santa Lucija held the initiative for long stretches in the first half but had nothing or little to show by the half way mark.

Ten minutes into the second half, Santa Lucia broke the deadlock with a Teixeira Maia low drive, and two minutes later Pembroke were down to ten men when captain Mifsud Triganza received the marching orders.

Santa Lucia tried to kill the match with a second goal. They hit the woodwork and also had a ball cleared off the goal line, but 14 minutes from time, substitute De Rosa Wilmsen stunned a plucky Santa Lucia defence.
