Mr Edgar Preca visits Istrina Piggy Bank coin counting process

-

Mr Edgar Preca visited Bank of Valletta’s Head Office in Santa Venera to view the final phase of the L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign. L-Istrina volunteers and BOV staff members have been sorting and counting the thousands of coins collected from all primary and secondary schools in Malta and Gozo for the past days. Mr Preca was greeted by the bank’s CEO Mario Mallia.

‘This is the 15th consecutive year that we are collaborating with the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation and organising the LIstrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign,’ said BOV CEO Mario Mallia. ‘We are pleased to have created so much awareness about solidarity over the years, now that the most senior students in the first editions are adults keeping this campaign alive through their children.’

‘Seeing the donations add up in front of our eyes is the most satisfactory phase of the campaign, as our efforts, combined with the efforts of the L-Istrina volunteers add up to a sizable donation that will go towards helping those in need,’ continued Mr Mallia. ‘As has become the norm, donations to L-Istrina can also be made through BOV Mobile Pay, adding a convenient channel to make your donation to this most worthy cause.’

‘We are just a few days away from the largest solidarity campaign on our island’ said Mr Preca. ‘The demands on the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation are always on the increase, and we are taking this opportunity to appeal to everyone to tune-in to L-Istrina on Boxing Day to support this campaign and in turn help all those who turn to the MCCFF when in need.’

The final sum collected through the L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank campaign, together with a generous donation by the bank will be presented to the President of Malta during the live broadcast of L-Istrina on the 26th December.
